Exploring the Esophageal World丨 Second Mediation Thoracoscopic Esophagectomy Academic Exchange Event Successfully Held

November 15, 2024

On November 15th, the second session of Exploring the Esophageal World 2024—a Mediation Thoracoscopic Esophagectomy Academic Exchange event—was successfully hosted at Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital. Esteemed experts and professors from Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital, Peking University First Hospital, Beijing Chest Hospital Affiliated with Capital Medical University, and Nanyang First People’s Hospital gathered to foster academic collaboration and drive progress in clinical research.

The event commenced with an opening address by Professor Hu Zhendong of Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital. He emphasized that this exchange aims to share the hospital’s accumulated expertise and innovations with attendees, providing a platform for communication among industry professionals to collectively advance clinical treatment and research for esophageal cancer.

Following the opening, Professors Tang Weifeng, Wei Wei, and Wei Wei from Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital introduced the local expert team, visiting experts, and specific case details. The visiting specialists engaged in dynamic discussions, delving into challenges faced in clinical practice while exchanging insights and experiences.

The highlight of the event was the live demonstration of Mediation Thoracoscopic Esophagectomy. Professor Hu Zhendong’s team showcased the intricate surgical procedure through live demonstrations and real-time explanations, offering a comprehensive, multi-angled perspective for visiting experts. The procedure leveraged an insufflation-mediated thoracoscope to provide a clear surgical view, enabling precise maneuvers.

Paired with the intelligent AGISEAL devices and smart host equipment by ShouLiang-med, the team achieved precise lymph node dissection and protection of critical vessels and nerves, significantly reducing intraoperative bleeding. The demonstration exemplified the ideals of “precision, minimally-invasive techniques, and efficiency.”

Beyond the surgical showcase, visiting experts participated in in-depth discussions on surgical techniques and postoperative management. They shared experiences, addressed challenges, and explored pathways for advancing esophageal cancer treatment.

This successful academic exchange event has fueled the collision and integration of scholarly ideas while injecting new momentum into the growth of the discipline.

ShouLiang-med remains committed to supporting and participating in such academic initiatives to collaboratively drive innovation and progress in the medical field.
